Margaret Hirsch, COO of the Hirsch Group and a champion for Women’s Empowerment, was recently conferred with the prestigious Global Inspirational Women Leadership Award and the United States Congressional Commendation Award by the Centre for Economic and Leadership Development (CELD). The CELD is a leading human capacity, gender empowerment and development-based organisation that sees itself as a catalyst and thought leader in developing the theory and practice of leadership, social, educational and economic empowerment particularly in Africa.
Margaret was also nominated as one of Amazon Watch Magazine’s top 100 Most influential Women in Emerging Economies, an elite list of audacious and inspiring women leaders from diverse developing regions of Asia, Africa, Middle East and South America, who are using their positions to transform their communities. Some past CELD awardees include the former President of Malawi, H.E. Joyce Banda, and First Ladies from Ghana, Tanzania, Niger, Burundi and Namibia, all of whom have taken risks to build a more sustainable future for their regions.
The Awards will be presented during the South America, Africa, Middle East, Asia Women’s Summit which is being held in December in Dubai. The Summit is an annual unprecedented tripartite summit, aimed at bringing together, the most influential and prominent women as well as key stakeholders in the Africa, Middle East and Asian regions to re-emphasize and vividly demonstrate the critical role of women to the future of these economies, thereby effectively utilizing the world’s greatest untapped resource – its women.
