November sees the launch of an exciting new communication platform for women entrepreneurs across the Lionesses of Africa network, both on the continent and in the Diaspora. The Lioness Radio Show aims to inspire, inform and give voice to Africa's women entrepreneurs. This premier, weekly magazine show features the best of women's entrepreneurship on the African continent, hosted by Melanie Hawken, founder and ceo of Lionesses of Africa, and powered by Standard Bank.
In this launch episode, which originally aired on Friday 3 November, Melanie chats to leading techpreneur Nkemdelim Begho, founder of FutureSoft in Nigeria and also the co-founder of an exciting and rapidly growing childrenswear brand, Always Me by AnnLi. Nkem shares her insights and experience of what it’s like to juggle multiple successful businesses and brands in diverse industry sectors - the challenges and the achievements, and also about her aspirations for the future of both companies.
Also in the programme is a fascinating interview with successful author and African design curator, Tapiwa Matsinde, who flew into Johannesburg recently for the annual Sanlam Contemporary Handmade Fair. Tapiwa speaks about her invitation to curate a special element of the event to showcase some of the best women design entrepreneurs such as leading jewellery and accessory designer, Adele Dejak, founder of the label that carries her name in Kenya; and exciting lighting design talent, Dounia Tamri Loeper, founder of Dounia Home in Morocco. Tapiwa also shares her insights on what an exciting time it is right now for a new generation of women design talent to emerge from the African continent.
