Dr Jennifer Riria, the founding member of Kenya Women Holding and Kenya Women Finance Trust Microfinance Bank, and the CEO of Echo Network Africa, has been officially recognized for her longstanding impact and contribution to Kenyan society with two awards.
At an awards event, hosted by the Institute of African Royalty on August 15, 2018, Dr Riria received an award for her outstanding contribution to the African development agenda. She was honoured for her role in transforming the lives of women and their families.
Speaking at the conferring event that was attended by royals from countries such as South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Uganda and Liberia, the institute's President Zolani Mkiva said they were impressed with the special focus on rural development and the need for critical infrastructural investment championed by leaders such as Dr Jennifer Riria, CEO of Echo Network Africa. In his speech at the event, the Mr Mkiva said he was immensely pleased with the work of Dr Riria, acknowledging how she has greatly sacrificed her time and resources to become one of the change agents that Africa needs.
This month also saw Dr Riria bestowed with the prestigious Moran of the Burning Spear award by President Uhuru Kenyatta at a special ceremony hosted at the State House, Nairobi. The award was in recognition for her involvement in trade and for promoting discussions on entrepreneurship and gender issues.
