EbonyLife TV founder Mo Abudu has been announced as the Chair of the 47th International Emmy Awards Gala scheduled for November 25, 2019, in New York. The announcement was made on Tuesday, June 18, via Emmys Instagram handle as they shared a photo of the Nigerian media mogul.
The International Emmy Awards recognizes and celebrates excellence in television produced outside of the US. So, it was fitting that one of the African continent’s leading women entrepreneur game-changers in the media industry, Mo Abudu, has been named as Chair of the 47th Emmy Awards Gala in New York. This latest role acknowledges her work and commitment to creating world class television content for and about Africa, and changing the narrative about the African continent and its people.
The announcement of this prestigious role came with an attached quote by Mo Abudu herself that read:
“As producers, we are in a unique position to share fresh, authentic, and original stories with a global audience. Our content is not limited by language or culture. Viewers want to see stories that reflect their everyday lives—which can be found everywhere. At EbonyLife, we believe in changing the global African narrative. And like many, we connect the world with our stories.”
She added:
“As a Nigerian television producer, I am honored to chair the 47th International Emmy Awards and be part of an organization that celebrates extraordinary television producers from all over the globe.”
Reacting to the news, having been given the highest seat at the table, Mo Abudu said:
“I am honored to chair the 47th International Emmy Awards Gala that celebrates extraordinary television producers from all over the globe.” She added, “I would like to thank the International Emmy Awards for this honour and opportunity.”
