As women we love clothes, we want our hair and skins to always look refreshed and healthy. I recently had an event themed around the frustrations and blessings of being a woman. The ladies shared that weight really influences their confidence. Skin problems was a topic where the ladies wanted to have more information on skincare as pimples and uneven skin really influences their confidences.
I brought speakers who gave insights on how to wear clothes for the bodies we are currently in and how to take good care of our skin. While the ladies felt empowered to transform their closets and skin products, I was left wondering if I had hit the confidence issue on the nail or not.
What do we mean about skin deep beauty and confidence? Is it about eating healthy, exercising? Is it about mindfulness and meditation? It is about kindness and loving people.
I reckon confidence comes with practice. You will not go from insecure to confident in one go. It requires you to change your attitude, unlearn and learn many habits. It needs a lot of positive self-talk. I also think the outside is not mutually exclusive to the inside. We should strive to work on both.
We should eat healthy, excise and still buy good products for our skin. We should meditate, be more mindful and be more national about the clothes we wear.
Confidence on the inside is great, but a first impression is made by what you put on the outside. A stunning dress can be stunning. But a stunning dress on a kind, healthy, mindful and confident women will be extraordinary.
With that said, it was clear that all the ladies at the event had different confidence journeys to embark on. It was so beautiful to witness all supporting each other and embracing that sometimes, what we despise about ourselves could be someone else’s wish.
I would like to challenge every woman out there. While you sweat it out at the gym, embrace the body you are currently in. While you switch and find different products to help you get the skin you want, see yourself as beautiful. While you try find your feet in your entrepreneurship journey, know that you are doing well and are better than you were than before you started.
The process and road to success like Steve Harvey said, is always rocky and always under construction. Change your attitude and enjoy the ride.
