There is an exciting new South African wine, a Chenin Blanc, about to tempt the palettes of discerning consumers, produced by Siwela Wines, one of the few youth female black owned wine businesses in South Africa. Founded by Siwela Sweetness Masoga, Siwela Wines is a wine company focusing on the production of quality accessible wines. Siwela also runs a wine academy focusing on education and training within wine and hospitality.
The Siwela Chenin Blanc 2020 is made from 100% Chenin Blanc grapes sourced from Stellenbosch the most popular wine area for premium quality grapes in the coastal region of South Africa. The Siwela Chenin Blanc was produced using the first press juice and the skins discarded almost immediately, to attain the highest quality white wine. The first press juice was further fermented in a stainless tank to retain the flavours and freshness. The vintage offers a crisp, vibrant and well balanced acidity with fruit forward hints of green apple and floral tones. This speciality of Siwela Wines’ Chenin Blanc goes very well with food of sweet-sour balance and seafood dishes.
The Siwela Chenin Blanc is the first dry white wine in the range, adding to the already existing Gewürztraminer, sparkling Sauvignon Blanc and Methode Cap Classique Chardonnay. Founder Siwela Sweetness Masoga says that her aspirations for the new Siwela Chenin Blanc is to see it being enjoyed as a household white wine in South Africa. The Siwela Chenin Blanc will be available to purchase from the company’s website www.siwelawines.co.za
