There are times in life where we look for validation from other people, whatever we need to do has to be supported by somebody else for us to believe that it is the right thing to do.
Recently, I have started a journey in personal growth where I have discovered that I also have fallen on the same trap without releasing it. I have self-sabotaged by not trusting my judgement and intuition. I would not speak out and push past the negative chatter in my head until someone says exactly what I wanted to say. For too long I allowed other people define the boundaries of what I should do and not do.
Through the Exposing the Lies exercise I am doing I have been confronted with the lies that I have been telling myself, like … why I cannot not do it, … why I’m not good enough. I can clearly visualize my past behaviors and actions. With these lies, I have delayed my personal growth and progress because I wanted someone else to validate that I am right. I have also missed great opportunities because, I’ve not acted on my ideas soon enough, because I was worried of being judged.
The truth is, we all are fully loaded with great potential and strengths and we need to believe and be confident enough that we are unique. We have to walk on our own lane and not imitate and try to be like someone else. In whatever we think, say, or do, it has to be our own truth. The answers to our questions are within us and easy reachable. We just need to refocus and use our own life experiences and lessons to inform our future.
Choose you, your own truth will set you free.
