“We discovered a need in the Nigerian Recycling value chain to capture recyclable materials from sources before they hit the dumpsites and landfills.”
What does your company do?
Our business, Remould Global Ventures Limited (RGVL) is a fully registered Limited liability and Certified Environmental services Consulting, Recycling, and Waste Management Company. We provide top-notch, holistic, and specialized environmental studies and services that meet our clients' specific (project) needs.
Our products are obtained from recyclable collections. We discovered a need in the Nigerian Recycling value chain to capture recyclable materials from sources before they hit the dumpsites and landfills. We devised a system to collect, aggregate, and sell these source-sorted recyclables to Recycling processors, so they can have a better yield, especially those into bottle-to-bottle production. RGVL partners with Tech companies to further boost this strategy to provide tech-enabled recyclable collection solutions that capture recyclables at source, incentivize immediately, and promote waste source sorting.
Our Services include: Environmental Consultancy Services, Studies and audits; Creation of a Waste Management Framework; and Waste Characterization Studies. Our Products include: Baled Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) Bottles and Used Beverage Cans (UBCs). We partner with Tech companies to explore and provide tech-enabled incentivized recyclable collections. The SDG goals we are actively contributing to are: Sustainable Cities and Communities; Climate action; and Partnerships for the goals.
What inspired you to start your company?
In 2009, I obtained a master’s degree in Polymer engineering in the UK to empower myself in tackling the plastic menace in my country. Upon completion of my Polymer Engineering course in the United Kingdom, I returned home in 2011 and worked in the public sector, at Lagos Waste Management Agency (LAWMA). At the peak of my career in 2018, I was the pioneer General manager of a new company, whose mandate is to recycle plastic bottles. First, I identified the required resources - human, financial, equipment and time; in order to make this mandate a reality. I was able to harness my management, entrepreneurial, leadership, and people skills whilst doing this. After building my team and with all the other resources in place, I created a blueprint that was used and is still being used at FAN Renewable Systems, Ogere, Ogun state. The company is currently thriving and has a whopping capacity to recycle three metric tons of Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles per day. Over 70% of the team members I recruited have risen through the ranks and are now senior and mid-level managers and supervisors. Thus far, I have successfully achieved my career goals, whose major focus was to start my own Environmental and Recycling company, Remould Global Ventures Limited, www.remouldglobal.com

Why should anyone use your service or product?
We offer community services and encourage small-scale (family/home-based) businesses, by purchasing recyclables from community members and households. This mode of collection ensures that our raw materials - our products are clean and sold to bottle-to-bottle manufacturers, even as we ensure that the community is aesthetically more appealing and healthier to live in, as our drainage systems are no longer clogged with materials that are still useful and financially beneficial.
Tell us a little about your team:
My team is made up of five women and three men. The women in the business are given detail-driven roles, as women have a greater tendency to pay attention to detail. The men do machine and weight-lifting jobs. We also occasionally employ casual workers to aid in heavy weightlifting when transporting our materials in and out of the recycling facility.
Share a little about your entrepreneurial journey. And do you come from an entrepreneurial background?
My cumulative work experience exposed me to the world of entrepreneurship. I started my business three years ago. I, however, believe in personal development, growth, and continuous capacity building. This led me to apply for and complete the entrepreneurship course offered by the Academy of Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) sponsored by the United States Embassy, Lagos. This experience further added to my entrepreneurial skills and helped me develop my business, especially in bookkeeping, business planning, management, and execution.

What are your future plans and aspirations for your company?
To own a Material Recovery facility in Lagos Nigeria; where waste will be further sorted and utilized from the source.
What gives you the most satisfaction being an entrepreneur?
Helping households earn passive income from their waste.
What's the biggest piece of advice you can give to other women looking to start-up?
Never allow anyone to make you feel like you are less than a beautiful and purpose-filled person. Keep your head up, believe, and move ahead with your head held high. Have a dream, a plan, and action!
