Everyone wants to look and feel good, and also to boost their confidence, and in Mozambique, one woman entrepreneur is on a mission to help her clients achieve all of these goals. Zeinab Abdallah, founder of Qimari Estética, is creating a world-class service in a relaxing environment in the heart of Maputo, providing the opportunity for clients to find those precious Zen moments.
LoA met with founder Zeinab Abdallah this month in Maputo to find out more.
What does your company do?
My company, Qimari Estetica, is a Maputo-based specialist beauty clinic.
"At Qimari Estetica, that is our goal, helping our clients to find that inner confidence through our specialist beauty therapy treatments."
What inspired you to start your company?
I love to help people feel better about themselves and make a change in their appearance. Most people gain confidence in themselves when they look good and feel good. At Qimari Estetica, that is our goal, helping our clients to find that inner confidence through our specialist beauty therapy treatments.
Why should anyone use your service or product?
I made sure to have 5 star products and offer a 5 star service, but at affordable 3 star prices. I want the average women to come and enjoy a truly wonderful Zen environment and not have to pay a fortune.
Tell us a little about your team
We are a team of 6. My team is hard working and very attentious to the clients needs.
"I want the average women to come and enjoy a truly wonderful Zen environment and not have to pay a fortune."
Share a little about your entrepreneurial journey. And, do you come from an entrepreneurial background?
I’ve been a business women since the age of 6, I used to save up my pocket money and buy chocolates in bulk and sell to all my friends and family so that I could save up to buy my toys. Over the years I’ve learnt a lot of business skills from my father. I have my own jewelery business, as well as the beauty salon.
What are your future plans and aspirations for your company?
In the future, I plan on expending my range of beauty therapy and other services for the salon. I will have barbers and hairdressers, and I’m also bringing in a few highly specialized machines to offer such treatments as laser, non-surgical facelifts, etc..
"When you work for someone else you are limited by what they want you to do, yet when you work for yourself you can spread your wings and fly as high as you want."
What gives you the most satisfaction being an entrepreneur?
Bring your own boss and not having limits in terms of personal growth. Work is the most satisfying thing for me. When you work for someone else you are limited by what they want you to do, yet when you work for yourself you can spread your wings and fly as high as you want.
What's the biggest piece of advice you can give to other women looking to start-up?
Make sure you calculate all the expenses before you start your business or else you might be surprised with expenses that you haven’t budgeted for.
