I have a great view of the troupe. The monkeys are merrily playing and eating along the forestry. I move my binocular view over them, checking out the little ones playing and the moms keeping a watchful eye. Then I am met eye to eye with a big daddy. He is staring directly at me, gosh, it seems like he is literally on top of me! I yank the binoculars away from my eyes to get a normal view. He is definitely at a distance, far from me, yet he is dead focused on me. A chill runs down my spine. How does he know? Surely he cannot see this far?
I recall the shrieking of the previous night amongst the troupe. Someone got a hiding! The boss was really mad…. Or was it perhaps an intruder from another clan? A snake? A leopard? Taking warnings from the three alert bouncers it sounded like it was something big that made them sound the alarm. This is their job. To watch! To pay attention to any possible risk for the troupe and then they make the alarm. It is a helluva sound but it works. Everyone then knows to take shelter quickly. Danger lurks. When it is the boss however, if he is in a bad mood, they also make the alert - shame, maybe to help a few girls out! They take hidings from him. It’s monkey business one-o-one.
Coming back to “mr. Super-alert”. He really had me in his eye. I could see that clearly when I moved a bit from my spot. This guy knows his job. If one is unaware of a typical big troupe in the wild, you will be unaware of the big bouncer watching your every move. He might think you are a threat, this is very dangerous territory for a tourist or a hiker. This means that out in the bush, in wild country you have to know who is watching your every move. Bottom line you need to be alert as well.
Dear lioness, who is watching your moves or do you have at least someone keeping a look out for your back?
Who is busy taking notes or sharing your hard developed plans? Who is waiting for you to make the wrong move so that they can sound the alarm? In the world of IP and cyber crimes a business need a “bouncer”.
“Business going down, who wants in on the action” cannot be allowed. We see many exposes on businesses where the owner or CEO did not know someone was embezzling money. Just the other day I read how a certain pharmacy group is in deep trouble, now all the surrounding businesses are just waiting to get in on the action. It becomes messy when the community starts talking about you. Be alert, make sure you really have your hands on everything, if you can’t then get a “bouncer” or a “fixer” even, but don’t get into a dangerous situation.
Your focus areas should be:
Client services
Billing and enquiries
Financial affairs
Human capital
Excellent products
Protecting your brand
If you can manage these you will be fine - your troupe will survive!
