This year’s Southern Africa Startup Awards have just been judged for South Africa, and the prestigious Female Rolemodel in Tech award in the country has been given to Lynette Hundermark, founder of specialist mobile solutions consultancy, Useful & Beautiful.
The award goes to the most inspirational and influential woman of the startup ecosystem, regardless of being a coder, founder, or a designer at a startup, a mentor or a facilitator. The award recognises the winner as someone who demonstrate outstanding commitment and professionalism in her field.
This latest award win for Lynette comes at the end of a great year for award and business recognition. In June, she was recognised as one of Fast Company’s most creative people in business; in July she was a Regional Business Woman of the Year Awards Finalist in the Emerging Entrepreneur category; in July she was part of a major Forbes Africa Feature called Breaking the Code which encouraged females to get into tech; in August she was on the cover of leading tech industry magazine Brainstorm, where she talked about the issue of tackling bias in business; plus much more, all leading up to the latest recognition this month.

The Global Startup Awards bring together amazing ideas and best talents from 7 regions, 50+ countries across the globe to celebrate entrepreneurial spirit and startups. The competition process for finding the winners involves all aspects of a startup ecosystem by using a network of local ambassadors, country partners, national jury members, international jury members from entire globe, as well as key advisors counting everyone from top investors, political stakeholders, founders and community builders. The Grand Finale takes place on 22 November.
