SERVICE DIY – SERVICE IN A BOX
Professional Parts (Pty) Ltd opened its doors in February 2018 in Johannesburg, South Africa with the aim of providing their customers with affordable genuine and quality aftermarket vehicle parts. The founder and CEO, Verena Koch has over 16 years’ experience in the automotive industry and has contributed to many OEM’s such as Volvo Car South Africa, KIA Motors SA and General Motors SA. She identified the need for a “one part number, one purchase with all the basic parts” required to service a vehicle.
Together with her team they have conducted market research and found that the kits that are currently available in the market include parts that are not always used and thus increase the purchase price of said kits. Professional Parts took it one step further and included only the parts that are needed to service the vehicle according to manufacturer’s standards and combined it in one box - Service DIY – Service in a box.
Professional Parts will be introducing three derivatives under the Service DIY – Service in a Box Brand where the customer can purchase service parts for a minor service, intermediate service and major service. These will be identified as:
Service DIY - Lube (minor)
Service DIY - Plus (intermediate)
Service DIY Total (major)
The product ranges will cater for both Petrol and Diesel engines and the customer has the option of either Genuine or quality Aftermarket parts.
What’s in the box?
In the box you will find a basic service schedule that guides the individual servicing of the vehicle; what to inspect and/or replace. You will also find all the service parts require for the customer’s specific vehicle. For that special touch, we have included an air freshener spray, windscreen washer soap and hand cleaner.
The box will not include any oil but can be purchased separately. Should customers require any maintenance items like brake discs etc. they also have the option to include it when purchasing the box itself. The Service DIY (total) does, however, include a set of front brake pads.
The Service DIY – Service in a Box kits will be made available to the African continent through the Pro-Parts online portal from the 1st of February 2019 and later expanding worldwide. The box can be purchased by the public, as well as any auto repair shops and pricing models will be available for bulk purchases.
A lot of work is required to put these kits together and we saw this as the perfect opportunity to support the local community. Each box will be packed and quality controlled by members of the South African community. We will not be employing permanent staff to pack the boxes but will be giving unemployed individuals the opportunity to earn an income. On each box, there will be a place where the individual will be able to write his/her name and be proudly associated with the product.
Service DIY - Service in a Box will be made available prior to the official launch and we encourage individuals and companies to get in touch for more information.
