Women have been known for being nurturers by nature, and it is only with the emancipation and empowerment that women have started taking on roles traditionally thought to be for men, and also undertaking entrepreneurial activities. However, it is wise to note that there is still a need for women to balance their nurturing roles in the family, as well as their roles in the workplace and in their businesses.
Staying focused at work and in business during times of trouble at home can be extremely difficult. Life is a series of events and a lot of issues can cause one's life to turn upside down and have dire effects in terms of affecting productivity in the workplace and in any entrepreneurial business.
Stress management is key in everyone's life - and as much as balancing work and life might be very difficult, staying focused brings out the best results. The following tips can help one to regain focus in difficult personal times:
1. After a difficult personal event is experienced such as the illness or death of a loved one, it is understandable and permissible for a short period of time to take a break from work and other activities. This helps you to manage stress and be able to redesign your life accordingly.
2. Schedule your day and prepare a ‘To Do’ list. When you’re at work, stick to your schedule. Knowing exactly what has to be accomplished in a given work day helps you to stay focused on the task at hand and mantain order in your life. Always remember that when you are busy, you will have little time to focus on the negative aspects of your life that can derail your productivity. However, plan your day in a way that will not leave you drained out of all your energy.
3. Always have some "Me" time. Do not overwork yourself and also do not concentrate too much on the positive side. Make time to go out and have fun, find a new hobby, and relax too!
