Awards and Accolades
The International Chocolate Awards, the equivalent of the Oscars for the chocolate world, have recently taken place, and Zambia’s Savanna Premium Chocolate, founded by entrepreneur Chiinga Musonda and Lynn Musonda Phiri, has scooped a top prize.
Savanna Premium Chocolate in Zambia has long held a reputation for producing world-class chocolate, much loved by consumers in the country. That appreciation has now spread globally, with the brand achieving industry recognition for one of its products. Savanna’s Ginger Milk Chocolate, which is produced from Tanzanian single origin cacao, has just been awarded with the International Chocolate Awards European 2019 Bronze Award.
Speaking about the win, Savanna Premium Chocolate founder, Chiinga Musonda, said:
“Our proudly Zambian Ginger Milk Chocolate has won the 2019 International Chocolate Awards in Europe. The taste is amazing!”
This latest win comes hot on the heels of another award win for Savanna Premium Chocolate as co-founders Chiinga and Lynn were recognized as Founders of the Year at the 2019 Southern Africa Startup Awards. These worthy award winners commented:
“This is what happens when you decide to play a role in changing Africa’s narrative that whilst 70% of the world’s cocoa beans is grown in Africa, only 1% of the world’s chocolate is produced in Africa. The journey has many challenges, but it’s worth it! Thankful for the Savanna team and everyone for all your support.”
