The beauty industry is a growing one across the African continent, and in Angola the market has great potential. For entrepreneur Nancy Ernesto, founder of Avon Nancia Comércio Geral (SU) LDA, this represented a great opportunity to bring a renowned, empowering global franchise into the country.
LoA met with the enterprising founder, Nancy Ernesto, recently in Angola to find out more.
What does your company do?
We sell products from Avon brand. It is a strategic company to commercialize products.

What inspired you to start your company?
I want a challenge where I am able to express myself and my ideas. I want to experience the role of a manager and a leader and make it successful.
Why should anyone use your service or product?
We are a brand for all gender, especially for women. Because every woman needs a lipstick. We are an expression for her beauty and daily care. We are also a company that fights for women rights.
Tell us a little about your team
My team is composed of young ladies who are full of ideas and are very smart. They all started being professionals and for their young age are very bright! Sometimes it is tricky to give them direction and show them what is right, but they soon understand and learn what the priorities are.
Share a little about your entrepreneurial journey. And, do you come from an entrepreneurial background?
Yes, I did come from an entrepreneurial background, my father decided to run his own business from a very young age and I used to help my mother to sell as well. On the other hand, I still loved my books, so much so that it gave me the strength to manage my business the right way.
What are your future plans and aspirations for your company?
Well, my plan is to have Avon fully operational in Angola. The aim is to empower women entrepreneurs and make their dreams come true.
What gives you the most satisfaction being an entrepreneur?
Customer satisfaction, to see them happy, and to see that I have contributed towards their happiness.
What's the biggest piece of advice you can give to other women looking to start-up?
Follow your heart, step by step, and believe in God - carry him with you and consult him in every decision and through every difficulty.
