For style conscious people who want their accessories to stand out from the crowd, the newly launched R.I.S.E. collection from Mozambican luxury accessory design house, Atelier Taíla Carrilho is a must-have this year. Founder and designer, Taíla Carrilho, creates handmade, truly eye-catching fashion accessories for women and men, utilizing local materials and labour. The new R.I.S.E. collection is inspired by the act of being reborn after a fall.
With the launch of the new R.I.S.E. collection and its core theme of rebirth, designer Taíla Carrilho emphasizes that there is no harm in falling or letting yourself go downhill from time to time, as long as we always gather the necessary strength to get back up and continue our journey. She believes that life is not a straight line and that falls are part of it, but it is essential to get back up, not leave ourselves on the ground. Her advice is to rebuild and continue to walk our path towards our goals. The pieces in the new R.I.S.E. collection were designed to have an unfinished look, and Taíla says it’s as if we were building our path.
Speaking about her aspirations for the launch of the new R.I.S.E. collection, Taíla Carrilho says, “We are very happy with the reception of the collection by the public. We intended for them to understand the story behind the concept and the result has been very satisfying. We also intended to show that Mozambique has high quality artisans who are capable of working professionally, employing a timeless and classic aesthetic.”
The new R.I.S.E. collection was launched to the public for the first time at the exhibition of the "Maktub" collection by MINA by SA, which took place at the Polana Hotel in Mozambique in November 2022. In Angola, there was also a launch event held on 15th December that same year.
Taíla shares her insights on the overall theme of rebounding and rebirth in the new R.I.S.E. collection, saying, “I learned, with the springs, to let myself be cut and always come back whole. Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”
For those interested in purchasing pieces from the new R.I.S.E. collection, they are currently on sale in Atelier Taíla Carrilho, or in the Celo store, and in the atelier Shaazia Adam.
