Pichulik is an ethical jewellery atelier based in Cape Town, South Africa and founded by Katherine-Mary Pichulik, and is celebrating it’s 10th anniversary in style - with the launch of a new Silver Collection featuring five of its most iconic jewellery pieces. Inspired by ancient cultures and mythology, Pichulik uses the language of African artistry and ornamentation to create sculptural accessories that celebrate empowering feminine narratives. Each piece is a talisman, handcrafted from its signature rope, combined with cast-brass elements, precious stones and unexpected organic materials, to create distinctive and unique forms.
PICHULIK is 10 years old! What started as a hobby at a kitchen table, has evolved into an established, globally-loved jewellery design house. A decade marks a very important milestone in any relationship or journey: Seeds have been sewn; many meandering paths have been explored; battles have been lost and won; ideas have been abandoned and realised; enduring partnerships have been built; invaluable lessons have been learnt; and the PICHULIK family has grown older, and wiser.
For Pichulik founder, Katherine-Mary Pichulik, the number ten symbolises the completion of a cycle, and the beginning of a new one. She says, “We take this moment to give a nod to our lineage, and pave the way for the new and unexpected. A 10 year anniversary traditionally calls for gifts of aluminium and tin. We decided to celebrate the occasion by casting five of our most iconic jewellery pieces into silver for the very first time. PICHULIK´s Silver Collection fittingly marks this transition, serving as both a relic of our incredible history and ballast for our exciting new chapter.”
What makes this new Silver Collection different is that the distinguishing components of any PICHULIK jewellery piece are the innovative and sculptural use of locally produced and re-purposed rope, embellished with a variety of unique cast and found exotic materials. Katherine-Mary says, “Every collection is an episode in the odyssey of a female protagonist."
Customers can buy the exciting new Pichulik Silver Collection from its Atelier at 8 Watson Street in Cape Town, South Africa.
