Patience and persistence are two essential qualities that can make all the difference in the journey towards entrepreneurial success. While they may seem like separate concepts, they go hand in hand. But my hand now is full of patience, and I am working on taking persistence along too, as there are days when I do feel like giving up.
In my upbringing as an entrepreneur, I can assure you that Patience has always been at the forefront because in Mozambique to formally register a business you need the ability to stay calm and composed while waiting for a desired outcome. It involves having the self-control to tolerate delays and setbacks without becoming frustrated or giving up. But during this registration process what held me together and maintained my cool was the determination to finally have a registered enterprise. Persistence played a very important role, it kept me going, even when things were not going as planned.
The common ground between patience and persistence lies in their shared focus on the long-term goals and it looks beyond immediate gratification and short-term gains. Patience and Persistence are always on the menu when it comes to marketing my entrepreneurial journey and building the right customer base. I rely on being mentally strong not to let the so-called instant success of others throw me off my way because depending on what you are consuming daily, you can easily get discouraged when progress is slow or when setbacks occur. When in such situations my first advice will be to hold on to your vision.
There are several stages in the entrepreneurial journey but maintaining and doing everything in your power for it to thrive it’s the hardest part, and this is where turning to being persistent makes it easy to be able to grab the right opportunities, learn from mistakes, and keep moving forward despite the obstacles.
It is important to cultivate these valuable qualities and because I am a believer in inside-out efforts, I use these traits in my personal and professional life. We have all heard ‘Practice makes it perfect’ and to revive the Two Ps for improving relationships, achieving personal goals, and smoothly navigating the ups and downs of daily life here is what I put into practice: mindfulness, setting boundaries, and staying focused on long-term objectives. I try different approaches in my E-journey like setting goals, maintaining a positive attitude, and developing strategies for dealing with challenges. I also greatly believe in the Power of the Energy People Carry and whenever I need to revive a bit more of my power on Patience or Persistence, I seek support from others which can be in the form of Mentorship Talks, Networking Events, or reach out to my like-minded community who can provide encouragement and guidance and that community can be a Podcast Playlist as well.
In conclusion, I would like to encourage everyone to reflect on their own experiences with these traits and to share their insights and stories with others. Together, we can inspire each other to cultivate patience and persistence in both business and personal life, and to achieve success in whatever we pursue.
