Kofo Akinkugbe the founder of SecureID in Nigeria has launched the first EMV Plant in Sub-Saharan Africa that enables the local production of SIM cards, and SIM packages for the telecoms industry, bank payment cards and other high security polycarbonate identity cards.

SecureID has expanded its capabilities to produce a full range of cards including national Indentification cards, tax cards, pensioner cards, employee ID cards, health cards, student ID, loyalty cards, voters cards, driver license cards, automated transport fare cards, and gift cards for both private and public sectors.
The company is currently responsible for the supply of 13 million high-end residents’ identity cards for the Lagos state government. These biometric cards are designed to hold the fingerprint, bio data, and account information of the card holder.
SecureID has also recently partnered with Sterling Bank as part of an initiative to deliver banking services to Nigeria's unbanked population. This is in support of Central Bank of Nigeria’s vision to reduce the unbanked rate from 46.3 per cent to 20 per cent by 2020. Currently, approximately 46.3 per cent of the Nigeria population is unbanked.
