Effeminacy Women’s Entrepreneurship Breakfast is a monthly event hosted in Johannesburg. This breakfast aims to identify issues that retard women’s entrepreneurship journey. By hosting monthly panel discussions and inviting institutions that deal with the specific issues, we are able to alleviate these issues.
Why?
Despite the fact that women make up more than 50% of the world population and 40% of the global workforce, they own only about 1% of the world’s wealth. Global statistics also reveal that women’s unemployment levels remain higher both in educated and less educated categories. Not only does South Africa mirror these trends, but the full participation of women in the economy in the country is being eroded. The latest Global Entrepreneurship Monitor statistics show that only 6,2% of South African adult women are involved in entrepreneurship, down from 9% the previous year. By looking at these statistics we can clearly see why there is a need for our gathering.
On the 27th of February we are hosting the first breakfast of the year that will focus on women in the energy industry. We would like to invite you as we unpack the barriers of entry for women and also the opportunities that are available for women in this industry.
We have partnered up with Africa Business Radio, where a live broadcast will take place from the venue.
