Awards and Accolades
This is an exciting time for South African entrepreneur Benji Coetzee and her company Empty Trips, which is on a mission to make cargo transportation more eco and cost efficient. The company has just received some valued recognition through a number of exciting global awards.
Firstly, Benji took home the big win at the Singularity University SA Summit 2018 where Empty Trips was named SU Ventures Pitch Station Winner. As a result, she will be heading to Silicon Valley to take part in the Singularity University Sprint Programme. Singularity University's mission is to educate, inspire and empower leaders to apply exponential technologies to address humanity's grand challenges. Its learning and innovation platform empowers individuals and organisations with the mindset, skillset, and network to build breakthrough solutions that leverage emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and digital biology.
Secondly, Empty Trips received the Frost and Sullivan Award for Best practices in New Product Innovation 2018 in the on-demand logistics industry. Trailblazers, innovators and entrepreneurs were honoured with Best Practices Awards by global market research and consulting firm Frost & Sullivan. The company held its Growth, Innovation and Leadership awards banquet, in Cape Town on 14 September to recognize the achievements of people in South Africa and other African countries in a range of categories, from energy and environment to transformational health and digital transformation.
Thirdly, Empty Trips took home the win for the Standard Bank Most Innovative Startup Category at the ITU Telecom World 2018 event, the largest telecoms conference in the world hosted this year in Durban, South Africa in September 2018.
