Today I’m sharing a little bit of confidence inspiration for you as a result of my own experience of adding more colour, beauty and excitement into my life of late. You see, the moments that make life so interesting are not just those BIG awesome moments – The BIG achievements, the BIG milestones, the BIG events. It’s also the little awesome moments.
In fact, if you were to compare the volume of little awesome moments with the volume of big awesome moments, you’d actually realize that there are far more little awesome moments combined which outweigh the big moments. Combine all the little awesome moments together and you’ve got one BIG, AWESOME life! Isn’t that…awesome?
Doesn’t that make you feel better about the small things? About your life? About yourself?
The problem that we face with the modern world we live in now, is that we see a lot of BIG awesome moments happening in the lives of a handful of people. Naturally, we begin to walk down a road called Comparison Street which ends in a Cul-De-Sac called The Comparison Trap. It’s awful being in that little Cul-De-Sac. When you’re there, you begin to feel bad about yourself. You begin to think that your life is so dull when you’re metaphorically standing next to someone else in the online world. My best advice is to turn on your inner GPS, drive straight past that offramp, and keep heading forward. There’s beauty and colour to be found in the little twists and turns ahead, if you’re willing to look for them. I promise!
My most recent activity addiction is the Silent Disco events held on Clifton Beach. Last year I was complaining to my friends that I don’t dance anymore. The last time I could remember dancing was at a friend’s wedding a few years ago. Before that would have been my own wedding, and before that would have been in a dark, dingy nightclub.
I missed dancing!! Then wouldn’t you know it, I stumbled across the details of Silent Events SA on Facebook where they had announced their next Silent Disco on Clifton Beach. I had my reservations, but I bought my hubby and I tickets regardless. I felt compelled to see what it was all about. I’m so glad I did. I’ve been to 2 more of their events, and I’ve loved each one of them!! The ripple effect of getting my boogie on, on the beach, is that I feel like I have a) something to look forward to till the next event and b) I feel excited and grateful about the smallest of experiences.
This is by no means an expensive exercise, so it’s easily available to anyone. It’s outdoors where you’re in touch with nature while listening to good music, which is guaranteed to lift your spirits. And there’s a sense of freedom and adventure that comes with trying something new. It takes you out of your normal routine and injects a shot of colour!
So I want to encourage you to look for the little awesome moments of colour & beauty in your life. They ARE there!
In the meantime, take some inspiration from this video…
