“I was 23 when I became an entrepreneur. It was very challenging and I went through a lot of industry challenges as well as life challenges. However, we learn and grow through challenges and life experiences.”
“In my new venture, I have certainly used my 16 years of experience to spur my business forward.”
What inspired you to start your company?
I had a previous Logistics business since 2005 which I was in partnership with my ex-husband. After my divorce in 2019, I decided that I could do this on my own.
What makes your business, service or product special?
I am one of very few seasoned female transporters, having over 18 years of experience. We take pride in delivering service levels in all aspects of the business
Tell us a little about your team
We are a small team that works 24/7/365. We have day shift and night shift controllers, drivers - both local and long distance, a maintenance team, as well as admin and finance.
Share a little about your entrepreneurial journey. And, do you come from an entrepreneurial background?
I was 23 when I became an entrepreneur. It was very challenging and I went through a lot of industry challenges as well as life challenges. However, we learn and grow through challenges and life experiences. I did not have any entrepreneurial background at that time. However, now in my new venture, I have certainly used my 16 years of experience to spur my business forward.
What are your future plans and aspirations for your company?
I wish to grow my fleet in the coming years and to have my own fully fledged depot.
“The most satisfaction I get out of being an entrepreneur is flexibility of time. I have the ability to shape my day such that I can still be a mum and attend my son's school commitments.”
What gives you the most satisfaction being an entrepreneur?
The most satisfaction i get out of being an entrepreneur is flexibility of time. I have the ability to shape my day such that I can still be a mum and attend my son's school commitments. However, there is no start or end to your day. Work continues 24 hours a day and you have to be passionate and committed to what you are doing.
What's the biggest piece of advice you can give to other women looking to start-up?
Rewards come many years down the line. Do it for the first 5 to 10 years because you love what you do, and you know that you are adding value through your product or service, and that you are providing employment for your staff. Everything else comes with time.
