The challenge for any young woman fashion designer just starting out is finding effective ways of getting their brands and their creations out into the marketplace and connecting with customers. South African entrepreneur, Thandiwe Makhanya, and her company A.T.L Events and Promotions, which specialises in creating, managing and executing brand awareness events, campaigns as well as promotions, has found a solution, and is launching a new event platform this February.
Thandiwe Makhanya’s latest fashion event, taking place on 6 February, showcases young South African designers working in the lingerie, swimwear and sleepwear business and provides a platform for these designers to showcase and give their brands critical and positive exposure in an affordable way. Companies and brands taking part in the showcase include Sassy Lingerie, DKSA lingerie, Creations by Patiswa (jewellery), and Only Do Bamboo (accessories). Thandiwe and her team are still in search of a swimsuit brand to complete the edition! The theme of this fashion showcase is Define Your Sexy! One of the event’s main sponsors is Four Cousins, a perfect fit with the fashion industry with launch of their creatively designed bottles. The DJs for the night are DJ Meech, Mr Sosha and Rawkidd. The event will be at the Greyville Convention Centre. VIP tickets priced at R350 include Complementary Champagne, snacks and drinks and General tickets(R250) include drinks only.
