Globally, more and more social entrepreneurs are leading the way as high impact social change-makers. There is also an apparent rise in the number of women social entrepreneurs across Africa, women with innovative solutions to society's most pressing social problems. This new generation of women is ambitious and persistent, tackling major social issues and offering new ideas for wide-scale change. The rising number of women social entrepreneurs around the world suggests that there might be more attention given to addressing challenging social problems, using economic or entrepreneurial solutions. Lionesses of Africa Founder and CEO, Melanie Hawken, took part in the Twitter Chat on 17 March coordinated by Ogunte, together with other guest contributors from around the world, to talk about how unleashing the power of women’s social entrepreneurship can help to make our economies and societies stronger.
