One of the highlights again for 2017 will undoubtedly be the monthly Lioness Lean In Breakfast Event Series, run in partnership with Standard Bank. These hugely popular gatherings bring together women entrepreneurs in key African cities to listen to other successful women business brand builders share their stories, to inspire one another, and to network and connect for business success. On Thursday 23rd February, Johannesburg plays host to one of the first events of the year.
The Lioness Lean In Breakfast event on Thursday 23rd February promises to be a great one, with three successful South African women entrepreneurs coming along to share their entrepreneurial stories, to network with a capacity audience, and to talk about how they have achieved success and overcome the challenges along the way. These include: Vere Shaba, founder of Shaba & Ramplin Green Building Solutions and the winner of the inaugural GE Lionesses of Africa Innovation Competition; Vicki Bain, co-founder of Chocoloza, an incredible new luxury, handcrafted chocolate brand with a South African twist; and Tashmeen Anthar, co-founder of Rollasoles, the highly innovative ‘rollable shoe in a can’ brand taking the market by storm.
Lionesses of Africa founder and ceo, Melanie Hawken, says of the Lioness Lean In Breakfast series: “There is a real energy at our Lioness Lean In events, as women entrepreneurs at all stages of their business journeys get the opportunity to network and connect with one another, share stories, swop ideas, and of course, do business with one another.
The events are based on a successful breakfast networking and speaker presentation format that is highly popular with women entrepreneurs in Africa. The format of each Lioness Lean In is a three hour event, commencing with breakfast and networking, followed by inspirational guest speakers sharing their own entrepreneurial journeys and experiences; often a guest woman artisan entrepreneur is invited to speak and share their brand building story, presenting their unique handcrafted products to the audience; a presentation from Standard Bank on support for women entrepreneurs follows; and the event is rounded-off with more networking over coffee and cake.
