Women have instinctively and deeply nurturing characteristics. Unlike men, they take pride in the process vs being solely focused on the result. They strive to develop people along the way and want to know that they are making a real and positive difference in the world. So when the next big company comes along to sign a contract that could potentially change the entire trajectory of her business, she may appear slightly hesitant and need some time to weigh out the pros and cons. Although this may be a good thing, there are some things that smart women just don’t do when opportunity knocks.
They don’t fall into the trap of perfectionism
Progress matters more than perfection. Noticing and acknowledging how far you’ve come in your business is an important habit. From designing and launching your first product, to opening an online store that attracts new customers every day, the milestones that you reach in your business, are worth recognising and celebrating. Doing this consistently makes you less likely to fall into the trap of perfectionism and getting it 100% right.
They don’t think they are not ready
Being ready has a lot to do with how you perceive yourself as a person, team or business. Do you see you and your team as ready and able to build on new ideas or take on new projects? What kind of mindset do you adopt within your business on a daily basis? Have you and your partners taken the time to write out your vision? How committed are you to seeing it through? When continuous evaluation and assessment are part of your company culture, you will be less likely to second guess yourself when a new opportunity presents itself.
They don’t think someone else is better for the job
Comparison is the thief of progress. Yes, that’s right. Hear it again: comparison is the thief of progress. Because of the digital age and massive advances in technology and more so, social media, social comparison is now a real thing! We compare everything from our appearance, possessions, achievements, financial status and even business success. I don’t know about you but every time I have compared myself on any of those things, it has resulted in me feeling LESS than. And feeling less than, has never prompted me to take big and bold action towards my goals and dreams.
